FIA WORLD BAJA CUP

38th Baja Portalegre 500 (Portugal)

For the first time in FIA World Baja Cup history, a round of the series was won outright by a competitor in the T3 class when Miguel Barbosa steered his BFGoodrich-tired Taurus T3 Max to first place on Portugal's Baja Portalegre 500.

An entry of almost 400 vehicles turned out for Round 5 of the 2024 off-road series which featured 407 competitive kilometers through Portugal's Alto Alentejo and Ribatejo regions, with foul weather making the terrain particularly muddy and slippery.

When mechanical trouble hit the Mini JCW T1+ of the event's two-time winner and 2024 title-challenger Joao Ferreira, it paved the way for Barbosa to steal a surprise success in his #311 BFGoodrich KR2-equipped Taurus T3 Max which proved perfectly suited to the conditions.
