BFGoodrich targeting a 21st Dakar success!

BFGoodrich is providing the rubber for the majority of the Ultimate entries contesting the Saudi Arabia-based 47th Dakar (January 3-17). The brand is looking to win the world's most famous cross-country rally for the 21st time.

Starting in Bisha and concluding in Shubaytah a fortnight later, the 2025 event will cover 12 legs totaling more than 8,000 kilometers. Some 5,000 of these will be against the stopwatch across the infamous Empty Quarter desert in southern Saudi Arabia which is hosting the rally for the sixth year in a row.

The majority of the teams competing in the bill-topping Ultimate class have chosen to race on BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KDR3 tires (37x12.50R17) developed specifically for the sport's technologically-sophisticated prototypes.

Another off-road title for BFGoodrich

The last round of the FIA World Baja Cup produced another win for BFGoodrich thanks to Nasser Al-Attiyah (Taurus T3 Max), while Portugal's Joao Ferreira (X-Raid-run Mini JCW) wrapped up the 2024 title.

The season's finale visited the Al Qudra Desert where two 200-kilometer legs saw Qatar's Al-Attiyah steer his Taurus T3 Max to a 13th Dubai Baja victory.

 

Second place sufficed for Ferreira and his co-driver Filipe Palmeiro to secure the 2024 crown in their BFGoodrich T/A KDR3-equipped Mini JCW Rally Plus with a score of six podium finishes.

Six of the year's eight fixtures were won by BFGoodrich runners, namely Toyota Hilux pair Al-Rajhi and de Mevius, Barbosa and Al-Attiyah (both Taurus T3 Max), Krotov and Ferreira (Mini JCW)

The adventure began back in 1977, when Thierry Sabine got lost on his motorbike in the Libyan desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Saved from the sands in extremis, he returned to France still in thrall to this landscape and promising himself he would share his fascination with as many people as possible.

The Mint 400

The Mint 400 is the oldest and most prestigious off-road race in America, and is held each March in the treacherous foothills of Sin City. The multi-day event features a massive vehicle parade down the world famous Las Vegas Strip, a two day festival on historic Fremont Street, and two days of grueling off-road racing on a desolate and punishing 400-mile racecourse.

Score International

SCORE International is an off-road sanctioning body in the sport of desert racing and is famous for its flagship event, the Baja 1000. SCORE races are held in United States and Mexico. Founded by Mickey Thompson in 1973.

Wide Open

Wide Open has been leading tours of Baja from the seats of their Baja Challenge cars since 1997. And Wide Open Baja tours aren’t a run of the mill convoy type tour, nor are they for the faint of heart.  After a brief orientation course, tour guests get behind the wheel of their own Baja Challenge car and tour the Baja Peninsula at speeds with which they are comfortable.
