Success for Toyota/BFGoodrich in Argentina

The 2024 Desafio Ruta 40 saw Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Toyota Hilux) beat Nasser Al-Attiyah (Prodrive Hunter) by just 40 seconds at the end of the 2,086-kilometer event. The third step of the all-BFGoodrich podium was claimed by local star Sebastian Halpern (Mini X-Raid).

Round 4 of the 2024 FIA W2RC was based in Argentina’s rallying epicenter, Cordoba, and featured a menu of five legs in the Andean foothills, including certain tracks previously visited by the Dakar and the country’s FIA WRC fixture.

Two stage wins in his prototype BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KDR3-tired, Overdrive-run Hilux gave Saudi Arabia’s Al-Rahji the edge he needed to beat Qatar’s Al-Attiyah by 40 seconds.

“I’m thrilled,” enthused the Toyota driver at the finish. “Timo [co-driver] and I did a great job. Midway through the last stage, we saw that we were 30 seconds down, so I said ‘let’s go flat out’! That’s exactly what we did and we clawed back 45 seconds in just 90km. It wasn’t easy. We took so many risks, but it was tremendous fun.”

The other three stages were topped by Al-Attiyah and Toyota Gazoo Racing/BFGoodrich factory drivers Lucas Moraes and Seth Quintero.

The final round of this year’s FIA W2RC will take teams to Morocco in October.
