BFGoodrich scores 20th Dakar victory

The 2024 Dakar saw Carlos Sainz/Lucas Cruz steer his Audi RS Q e-tron to BFGoodrich’s 20th victory on the world’s toughest rally. It was the Spaniard’s fourth Dakar success, achieved with four different car manufacturers, but all on BFGoodrich rubber!

BFGoodrich’s KDR2+ and KDR3 tires helped Sainz/Cruz secure Audi’s maiden Dakar victory – and the first on the event for hybrid technology – after a splendid scrap with Sébastien Loeb/Fabian Lurquin (3rd, Prodrive Hunter). The Frenchman lost time on the penultimate day, however, conceding second spot to Toyota youngsters Guillaume de Mévius/Xavier Panseri.

This year’s particularly grueling itinerary included two, two-day ‘marathon’ stages, plus several long rocky stages which eliminated potential front-runners Nasser Al-Attiyah (Prodrive), Stéphane Peterhansel (Audi) and Yazeed Al-Rajhi (Toyota).

BFGoodrich runners also claimed the Challenger and SSV class-wins with Cristina Gutierrez and Xavier de Soultrait who highlighted the performance of the brand’s KM3, KDR3 and KR2 tires.

Eighty-one percent of the Car entries for this year’s rally put their trust in BFGoodrich.
